Classroom Introduction to Paintless Dent Removal
The process of Paintless Dent Removal is applying pressure on the opposite side of the dent with specialized
PDR tools by a well trained PDR Technician. To remove a dent, the metal must be worked from behind,
gently massaging the metal back to it's original shape, resulting with no damage to it's original paint.
Specialized PDR tools which are designed to push up on specific points under a dent are used. The metal must be
massaged as evenly as possible and to do this, tools must be placed precisely under the damaged metal and
pushed out with the proper amount of pressure. With our instructors you will learn all proper tool procedures
along with perfecting your hand-eye coordination.
The tip of the tool is what causes any dent to disappear when used properly. By pushing behind the dent evenly
and with firm but gentle pressure, the massaged metal will go back together and the paint will be flexible
enough to do the same. By placing the tip of the tool in the correct place under the dent and in the proper sequence,
dents can be worked back to their original shape.
With proper instruction from a qualified PDR Instructor you can learn this technique relatively quickly. One of
the best things about PDR is that there are no follow up costs. Once you've purchased your tools and a few

You'll never remove a dent if you can't see it ! The PDR light enables you thru it's reflection to not only view the dent in a larger manner but also to read the tip of your tool. Unless you live where there is a constant outdoor light source you will need a PDR light. Reflector boards are great but have to occasionally be changed as your light source ( the sun ) rotates. The PDR light is your most consistent source of light and all students are well trained in our center to effectively utilize it. Reading the dent becomes amazingly easy with the proper lighting and Instruction. Thru a PDR light you will find distortions of the dent much more easily allowing you to concentrate on the dent and it's removal instead of constant reflector board adjustments. The most critical part of Paintless Dent Removal is being able to read the tip of your tool under the sheet metal. With our PDR light and proper instruction you will learn how to perfect this. Applying pressure other than to the dent itself will result in damage to the vehicle. Reading the tip of the tool is almost impossible to learn from a video, we do not recommend them. Beware of those who sell these products, It's a quick buck for them and the student almost always requires training.
